About us

Marine Trade Supplies is one of the most recognised and respected brands in the SE Qld Marine Paint Industry. Marine Trade Supplies was established in 2001 and operates a specialized Marine & Protective coatings division distributing various brands to suit the local Marine Industry. We distribute Akzonobel brands such as Awlgrip, International Yacht, International Marine, Jotun, PPG Marine, Resene & Altex brands, Hempel Yacht & Valspar Wattyl. Our diverse range allows us to cater to near 90% of the marine refinishing requirements we come across at our outlet, based in Australia’s Greatest Boat Yard, The Boat Works Coomera on the Gold Coast. A vacancy has arisen in our Marine & Protective Coatings Division assisting the department manager in every aspect of the operation in our Coomera outlet.

About the role

We require a bright ambitious sales professional who preferably has experience working within the marine paint industry. This position would be ideal for someone who possess both account management and operational skills. This position will suit someone seeking a long term career in a stable and progressive company. The role is based in our Coomera Trade Outlet in Coomera on the Gold Coast Queensland.

Duties & Responsibilities

This role is dedicated to assisting our Marine & Protective Coatings Manager in day to day operations of our Marine & Protective Coating Division. You will assist in the full operational running of a Trade, Retail, Industrial, Protective & Marine Coatings division. It will involve picking & packing orders, local delivery & pickup of orders. The role will mean you will be not only selling paints, but everything that goes with painting. Orders include tapes, masking, abrasives & much more. The successful applicant will be flexible, self-motivated, have high ideals of customer service, preferable technical knowledge of marine, industrial & protective paint systems and want to join a happy, progressive, and successful team. You will remain engaged in the local marine industry through following projects and not adverse to lifting the companies profile by engaging with the many local trades we deal with on a daily basis. Monitor and communicate local competitor activity to Marine Trade Supplies management. Work in collaboration with Marine Trade Supplies strategic supply partners to ensure alignment on new business targets to support in the overall delivery of store budgets. This is your opportunity to shine in the marine industry. We will expect you to perform in line with key company objectives and standard operating procedure.

Skills & Experience

A proven history of achieving sales growth whilst controlling operational expenses will be highly regarded. This is a demanding role and we are seeking a high caliber applicant. Marine Paint Industry experience is preferred but not essential. Applicants that have also had Trade/Retail/Hardware industry experience or related building industry experience will be highly considered. High level of written and oral presentation skills. Ability to prioritize and work effectively to manage several projects at once. You will be required to hold and maintain a drivers license in order to maintain this position.

Marine Chandlery Sales

Have you got a passion for boating and the outdoors?  We are hiring!!  Our busy marine chandlery is looking for another team member due to growth.

Working in the chandlery department at Marine Trade Supplies you will be part of an experienced team selling marine chandlery, marine accessories, trade supplies, electronics and boating accessories. If you enjoy helping people, this is the role for you! 

To work with us you will have experience in a retail and sales role. Ideally you will have experience in sales of marine chandlery and paints, maintenance & Fibreglass supplies and have a general knowledge of boating and fishing. You also need to be fluent in computer usage, adding parts, creating sales estimates & quotes, right through to invoicing & ordering. We run enterprise based software that is focused on parts. 

The successful candidate will be trained as they learn the various tasks.   

Some of the typical tasks you may be carrying out in the chandlery will be: 

  • Providing exceptional customer service and product solutions to customers
  • Creating sales orders, invoicing & entering parts into our software system
  • Store merchandising to ensure product availability and excellent presentation
  • Stock Handling
  • General housekeeping to offer a positive store environment to all customers
  • Local pickup and drop off in our manual ute
  • Work cooperatively with other team members to enhance the customer experience.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a retail environment

  • Strong communication skills
  • A drive to succeed and grow within the business
  • A high standard of personal presentation
  • Great computer skills required
  • You will be reliable and turn up on rostered days
  • You will be able to communicate well with others and work well in a team
  • Your resume will show a work history that demonstrates a good work ethic in your previous roles.
  • You will have a current Australian drivers license. 

Our Company

Marine Trade Supplies is the Gold Coasts largest marine chandlery & trade outlet. We deal with small boats right up to superyachts & everything in between. We sell electronics and chandlery, marine paint & resins, safety equipment, pumps & plumbing, 12 & 24v electrical items, our range is huge!

We are a team of up to 15 employees working closely together in a fast-paced environment. Included in our store are fully equipped and modern paint tinting systems. We are seeking candidates who take pride in their work and enjoy being a part of an enthusiastic team. We are located with The Boat Works Coomera and enjoy a constant stream of customers that utilize The Boat Works ship lifts.
