Overcoating times relate to Brush/Roller application. If maximum overcoating time is exceeded, sand with 180220 grade wet or dry paper.
APPLICATION AND USE
Preparation STEEL Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Gritblast to Sa 2½ near
white metal surface. If gritblasting is not possible, grind the metal surface with 2436
grit abrasive discs to a uniform, clean, bright metal surface with a 5075 microns anchor pattern. Use angle grinder on small areas.
ALUMINIUM Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 24120
grade (aluminium compatible) paper.
Coarser grades are recommended to achieve optimum adhesion. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Prime using a recommended International primer as soon as possible (within 8 hours) as detailed for specific coating systems.
ZINC/GALVANISED STEEL Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 60120 grade paper. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry completely. Prime using a recommended International primer as soon as possible (within 8 hours) as detailed for specific coating systems.
STAINLESS STEEL Light gritblast to produce a profile of 50 microns. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry completely. Prime using a recommended International primer as soon as possible (within 8 hours) as detailed for specific coating systems.
LEAD Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 120 grade paper or power wire brush Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Prime using a recommended International primer as soon as possible (within 8 hours) as detailed for specific coating systems.
BARE WOOD Sand smooth with 80180 and then 280 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting and wiping. If wiping with solvent then allow to dry completely before applying products recommended for application direct to wood (see specific coating systems). Method If filling is required, use appropriate filler after the first coat of Interprotect has been applied. Before painting, remove any dust with a dust wipe. Apply the following number of coats: Steel/Aluminium/Alloy Above 4, Below 5. Lead 5, Wood 3.
When used as a tie coat over Interprime 820: 1 coat.
Hints Mixing Stir or shake individual components thoroughly. Add Curing Agent to the Base, stir and leave for 10 minutes to allow bubbles to disperse.
Thinner YTA061 Thinners No.7 GTA220
Cleaner Use GTA822 for equipment cleaning.
Other For maximum performance to be achieved, the curing temperature should be above 10°C/50°F.
